All About Skaja

Hey there. I'm Skaja Evens. [Sounds like /skī-ə/ /eh-vənz/]

I am a writer, an artist, and a publisher. Art is so needed. Especially now. Art creates possibilities and challenges thought. It is a mirror into our selves. Art can, and does, change lives.

I've made art most of my life. I love bright colors, bold statements, movement, and nonconformity. In my writing, I explore my truths and navigate interpersonal relations and the world around me. I am eccentric, indelible, and neurodivergent. I stand for equity for all and advocate for mental health awareness, stigma reduction, feminism, LBGTQIA+ humans, unpacking privilege, protections for the marginalized, and the rights and freedoms for people to live their truth. (Unless you're a fascist/Nazi.) I believe that Black Lives Matter and support direct giving to those in need.

I grew up among the lakes of Central Minnesota and currently reside in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. I have two furry assistants, Foghat and Creedence. They are 13-year-old littermates born in my closet. Together, they are my heart.

My other loves include the humans with whom I am involved, music, thunderstorms, road trips, fictional crime dramas, tattoos (and the getting of them), memes, and chocolate milk.
